Verizon launches on-screen purchase widget for FiOS TV

Verizon thinks that FiOS TV customers should be able to make holiday purchases right off their remote control. Through a partnership with the Home Shopping Network (HSN), Verizon has launched its HSN Shop By Remote Widget. The HSN Shop By Remote Widget has already been made available to FiOS customers in Verizon's New Jersey, New York, Florida and Texas markets. It will be available to all other FiOS TV markets by Dec. 7. To access the feature, customers have to have an HSN online account, but if they don't they can quickly get one by going to the HSN website.

To access the HSN widget, a customer will simply press the "C" button on the remote control to watch HSN on the right hand side of their TV screen. Customers can then view more product details on the left-hand of the screen. When a customer is ready to make a purchase, they click on the "B" button on the remote and then log in using the phone number and ZIP code that belongs to their HSN online account.
