Verizon moves Killian from Verizon Business to top CFO

Verizon Business President John Killian has been promoted to executive vice president and CFO of Verizon Communications, replacing the retiring CFO Doreen Toben.

Killian will take over as EVP and CFO effective March, while Toben will retire from Verizon around the middle of the year.  A replacement for Killian over at Verizon Business is expected to be named "shortly."

Toben has been Verizon's CFO since 2002, and she has been in telecom since she joined AT&T's treasury department in 1983.

Killian also has deep roots in Verizon and its previous incarnations. He started out with the company's New England telephone unit in 1981 and worked his way up through the ranks at progressively more challenging positions in operations and finance at AT&T, NYNEX, Bell Atlantic and Verizon.

He knows his way around a spreadsheet, as he previously served as senior VP and CFO for Verizon's Telecom group and was a certified public accountant prior to joining AT&T in 1979
