Verizon Public Sector scored two Enterprise Infrastructure Solutions (EIS) contracts valued at $34.6 million from the U.S. Department of Energy. The contracts call for Verizon to provide voice and data services to a number of DOE facilities, including the agency’s headquarters in Washington, D.C.
As part of the deal, Verizon will provide enterprise IT services for DOE program offices, marketing administrations, plants, site offices and national laboratories and will include some locations outside the continental U.S. such as those in Hawaii, England and Japan.
On the voice side, Verizon will upgrade the DOE’s existing voice platform to meet DOE’s next-generation voice requirements. That includes transitioning from Time Division Multiplexing (TDM) to an IP-based voice platform.

On the data side, Verizon will provide optical, Ethernet and private line services as well as internet protocol services and virtual private networking.
This award with DOE comes following a series of other EIS awards for Verizon, including Naval District Washington, the U.S. Department of Labor and the Air National Guard. The U.S. Department of Labor award was quite large and included five 12-year contracts that are collectively worth $887 million.
