West eyes Genesys in conferencing M&A

Whether you call it teleconferencing, videoconferencing or telepresence, the conferencing technology sector has been a hive of activity. Companies like Cisco Systems and Nortel Networks have been duking it out on the battleground of life-like telepresence systems, service providers have been enhancing their conferencing offerings, and M&A has begun to visit the market.

In the latest M&A move, West Corp., based in Omaha, Neb., has proposed to acquire France's Genesys Conferencing for about $269 million.
