The Maine Public Utilities Commission is set to again discuss FairPoint Communications' proposed acquisition of Verizon Communications properties in Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont tomorrow. However, it remains to be seen whether any action will be taken tomorrow, or anytime soon, with Christmas and the New Year approaching.
A story in the Central Maine Morning Sentinel said the holiday break means deal approval isn't likely until next month, but JPMorgan analyst Jonathan Chaplin said in a research note that he expects deal action before Christmas.
