WOW! Business employs Alcatel-Lucent's 7750 router for IP network expansion

WOW! Business has put another element into its IP network expansion, announcing that it has deployed Alcatel-Lucent's (NYSE: ALU) 7750 Service Router across the Midwest and Southeastern areas it serves.

The IP-based network platform, which is being deployed in 19 markets, has already enabled WOW! Business to deliver carrier-grade Ethernet services to businesses in Chicago, Detroit, Cleveland, Columbus and Evansville. While it did not mention any specific plans, the service provider indicated in a release that it has plans to extend service to more markets.

By deploying Alcatel-Lucent's IP service gear, WOW! said it will be able to satisfy the growing suite of business and wholesale services, including VPN, cloud and data center interconnect services and wireless backhaul.

The service provider's agreement with Alcatel-Lucent builds on its recent move to expand and streamline its service delivery process in the 19 markets where it provides business and wholesale services.

Earlier, it was tapped to provide fiber-based services to over 500 towers for various wireless operators in the Chicago metro area.
