Zayo to buy CityNet in latest M&A move

Zayo Bandwidth, the Colorado company led by veterans of Level 3 Communications and ICG Communications, is acquiring yet another fiber network firm. This time, Zayo is buying CityNet Fiber Network, which operates a wholesale network across 10 states. The price of the deal was not disclosed. This is Zayo's sixth acquisition within the last year. When we talked to the company last fall, they were in the midst of raising more money to fund more acquisitions, so this deal isn't too surprising. Zayo continues to find growth opportunities through consolidation long after Level 3's own similar acquisition binge seems to have ended.
