AT&T (NYSE: T) is putting up a $60,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person (or persons) responsible for a killing a technician in Waco, Texas while he was on the job on April 22.
Kenneth Cleveland, a 61-year-old man technician who had been with AT&T for 43 years, was originally thought to have died from electrocution while he was on a ladder.
But, according to the Dallas Morning News, officials declared Cleveland had been killed by "violent acts" after obtaining more information from the scene and from the medical examiner.
AT&T is currently working with Waco Police officials who are investigating the case.
"We're committed to doing anything we can to assist in bringing those involved in the death of Kenneth Cleveland to justice," said John Donovan, chief strategy officer and group president of AT&T Technology and Operations, said in a statement. "Ken was a dedicated employee for over 4 decades, and was widely admired by his co-workers -- a number of whom drove their AT&T trucks in a procession at his funeral. His senseless, tragic death was deeply felt here at AT&T, and we continue to offer our deepest condolences to his family, friends and co-workers."
Cleveland, who lived in Hewitt, Texas, started working for Southwestern Bell as an operator in July 1972 but spent the majority of his career as a customer service technician.
