Colt hires former Google Cloud exec to lead strategy

Colt Technology Services today announced the appointment of yet another highly accomplished woman to its executive leadership team. The company has hired Jaya Deshmukh for the new role of executive vice president of strategy and transformation. She’ll report directly to Colt’s CEO Keri Gilder.

Deshmukh is tasked with managing and driving Colt’s strategic roadmap and relationships while also elevating the company’s overall purpose and vision.

Deshmukh joins Colt from Google Cloud, where she most recently held the position of head of strategy for EMEA. She has also recently held roles at Microsoft, PwC and Cognizant, where she was responsible for implementing digital solutions and accelerating cloud consumption.

After Colt CEO Keri Gilder took over the top leadership job in May, 2020, she announced a new three-year strategy, which includes a revamp of the company’s organizational structure. As part of its new strategy, Colt also identified key areas of focus going forward.

The new strategy includes: 1) increasing Colt’s relevance in the enterprise sector and capturing the SD-WAN market; 2) co-developing with cloud builders; and 3) doubling down on the customer experience.

Today, Gilder said in a statement that Deshmukh’s “recent experience centering around digital transformation and cloud makes her the perfect fit to lead this new team within Colt, pushing them to continue to innovate and drive our wider organization forward.”

Earlier this year, Colt named Tessa Raum as EVP for HR. And in April, Colt began a recruitment drive, looking to add 70 new employees across its engineering, product, software development, operations, security and IT teams.
