Michel Combes, Alcatel-Lucent's (NYSE: ALU) new CEO, has made his latest mark on the company by naming Jean Raby as the vendor's new chief financial and legal officer.

Set to begin on Sept. 1, Raby, a native of Canada, will relocate to Alcatel-Lucent's headquarters in Paris.

Before coming to Alcatel-Lucent, Raby was a partner and managing director in the Investment Banking Division at Goldman Sachs until the end of last year. During his tenure with the financial company, he built relationships and provided strategic and corporate finance advice to clients across multiple industry sectors, including in telecom and information technologies.

Raby is just one of two key appointments Combes has made since taking over the reins of the provider. In June, the company named Philippe Guillemot as chief operations officer.

These new appointments come as Combes has put his three-year turnaround effort, called "The Shift Plan" into action. This initiative will focus the vendor's efforts on IP networking and ultra-broadband access opportunities, while cutting €1 billion ($1.34 billion) in costs by 2015.
