Amdocs collaborates with AWS to deliver cloud-native BSS offerings to CSPs

Amdocs has entered into a multi-year agreement with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to deliver intergrated, cloud-native business support systems (BSS) offerings to communications service providers (CSPs). As part of the deal, AWS is now Amdocs’ preferred cloud provider for Amdocs’ internal IT transformation.

By working together, Amdocs and AWS will be able to offer CSPs access to a portfolio of digital services that lower CSPs' time to market while also providing them with more agility to meet their end customers' needs.

The coronavirus pandemic has accelerated businesses' digital transformations as more workloads and applications move to various clouds for access by remote workers. Generally speaking organizations that had already embarked on their digital transformations were able to perform at a higher level during the onset of Covid-19.

"We are joining forces with AWS in this strategic partnership to accelerate the pace of adoption of cloud services within the communications and media industries," said Amdocs' Anthony Goonetilleke, chief strategy and technology officer, in an email to FierceTelecom. "We’re at a pivotal point in time as new technologies such as 5G and edge computing intersect with behavioral changes driven by the Covid pandemic, driving the industry to a tipping point.

"Amdocs and AWS will continue to work together to provide CSPs with the agility to place consumers and enterprises at the center of their digital-first strategies and deliver tailored, seamless digital experiences."

The new agreement expanded on existing work between AWS and Amdocs to enable Amdocs’ BSS and service automation portfolio to run natively on AWS. Existing and new customers have already made the move to the cloud native suite, including several North American service providers, such as Globe Telecom, and Orange Spain.

Amdocs and AWS are also teaming up to build and promote a wide range of services to help Amdocs customers migrate and modernize their systems using a variety cloud solutions.

"This is not just hybrid cloud," Goonetilleke said. "We provide a suite of solutions that are cloud-native, running on a public cloud as well as hybrid cloud options, based on customer needs so that we can address each customers’ vision.

"By integrating AWS and Amdocs’ business operations systems and cloud-native solutions, CSPs now have the ability to create new revenue streams, speed up the introduction of new cloud-based services while using the latest cloud technologies at a global scale."

Amdocs achieved AWS Migration Competency Partner status this year.
