Ciena joins packet optical fray

Ciena Corp said it is adding Ethernet switching and aggregation functionality to its CN 4200 FlexSelect optical transport gear, becoming the latest in a lengthening line of transport equipment vendors to do so. The Ethernet capabilities can be easily added to the existing gear via plug-in modules, likely making them appealing to existing FlexSelect customers.
