FiberLight, Cirracore serve up IaaS-based business continuity, disaster recovery for businesses

FiberLight is branching out of its network infrastructure roots into the growing cloud-based Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) solutions for business continuity and disaster recovery (DR) market through a partnership with cloud provider Cirracore.

Initially available to current FiberLight customers out its 180 Peachtree, Atlanta, and 1950 N. Stemmons, Dallas, facilities, the service provider said it will make the joint solution available to other U.S. markets "later this year."

"We have had an effort to take our products into the enterprise space and when you do that, you need to go deeper into what you're offering," said John Schmitt, chief development officer for FiberLight, in an interview with FierceTelecom. "For us, the most logical thing was to have some kind of a cloud product that we can bundle with that on-net capacity transport side of the business."

This pact brings benefits to both FiberLight and Cirracore. By partnering with Cirracore and offering its cloud service as a white labeled product, they can quickly pursue potential opportunities with existing network customers that are looking for DR solutions.

"It seems to be something that not just drives new sales for our business, but also gives us the opportunity to make those existing customers a little big stickier because you're offering something they don't have go and shop for from another competitive provider," Schmitt said.

Already, the partnership is paying off as FiberLight has it signed its first customer.

It also plays into FiberLight's drive to bring its fiber network infrastructure to more data centers. The service provider has connected its fiber to two Equinix facilities where Cirracore has housed its services.

"We live in that world of data center connectivity so a lot of what we do is support people's cloud applications, but this is a unique relationship we got set up with Cirracore," Schmitt said.
