During its IPTV World Forum conference series this week in London, Informa revealed that total global IPTV subscriptions were 29.7 million at the end of last year, having increased about 10.3 million from 2008. Emerging markets are giving the IPTV subscriber numbers a boost, though about two-thirds of the global subscriptions still are found in just four markets: France, the U.S., China and South Korea.
In terms of global market share, Informa's estimation of about 5 percent share for IPTV service lined up closely with the 4.9 percent figure provided last week by research firm SNL Kagan.
