Integra serves up new dedicated 100G routes

Integra is making more use out of its 100G network migration by offering customers dedicated Express Routes for its optical wavelength service line.

Available throughout its network footprint, Integra built the Express Routes for point-to-point 100G connectivity between a number of key metro areas in the western U.S., including Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Phoenix, Sacramento, Salt Lake City and Seattle.

The service provider is targeting a host of traditional carriers, data centers and major cloud services providers.

This offering builds on its wavelength services that it initially launched in 2012 with either a TDM or Ethernet interface in increments of 1 Gbps, 2.5 Gbps, or 10 Gbps. Earlier this year, the service provider added 40G and 100G bandwidth options.

Integra said it has seen increased adoption of its wavelength services from both domestic and international carriers as well as leading content providers that want a fully managed, private and dedicated network.

One market segment where Integra could make a major impact with the 100G Express Routes is the data center market. While the service provider isn't building out data centers themselves, it has been aggressively expanding its fiber network into various facilities in its western U.S. footprint.

In June, the service provider announced that it brought its fiber network to eight of Telx's data centers. Earlier, Integra announced that since October 2013 it had connected 30 data-center facilities to its fiber network, taking its total on-net data-center footprint to over 92 centers.
