Ethernet is on everyone's mind in the carrier world, so that obviously means network equipment vendors are promoting Ethernet gear and enabling Ethernet features and interfaces every way they can. Juniper announced new offerings this week that will enhance its ability to compete for the edge and metro Ethernet deployment opportunities available from carriers.
What Juniper left out was much mention of provider backbone transport, the emerging technology that adapts Ethernet to be more appropriate for carrier needs and less expensive to deploy.
