Nokia Siemens becomes a buyer

Could Nokia Siemens Networks be in the market as an instigator of more M&A activity? It seems hard to believe that the joint venture which so disappointed 50% owner Siemens earlier would actually be trying to buy up more companies. Yet, with the recently-completed acquisition of Atrica and the recently-announced acquisition of Apertio, the company is on an acquisition tear at the moment.

While the company has undergone cost-cutting restructuring in the past year, the cure to some of its financial ills may be further consolidation, according to some analysts interviewed by Telephony. So, who's next on NSN's shopping list? Tellabs was rumored as a target last summer, but that rumor cooled with the weather.
