NTT America hands President and CEO torch to Kazuhiro Gomi

NTT America has elevated Kazuhiro Gomi, formerly the service provider's COO and acting head of the Enterprise Solutions Business Unit, to the President and CEO post. Gomi is taking over the reins from Tetsuro Yamaguchi, who doubled the company's revenue during his four-year tenure with the company. No reason was given for Yamaguchi's departure.

As President and CEO, Gomi will oversee the direction and lead NTT America's functional areas, including Enterprise Solutions and the Global IP Network business units. Enterprise Solutions Business Unit (ESBU) is provides various business services (Ethernet, datacenter/colocation, managed hosting and cloud computing) to enterprises and multinational corporations (MNCs), while the Global IP Network Business Unit operates a global Tier 1 Internet backbone selling wholesale capacity to ISPs, content providers and Web hosting companies.

Gomi's ascendancy to NTT America's CEO throne has been rapid. Before taking up the COO post last June, Gomi served as CTO of NTT America and its Global IP Network Business Unit. Charged with the service provider's technology procurement strategy and vendor selection, Gomi helped NTT America advance its Global IP Network. In addition to the Global IP network, the 20-year NTT veteran participated in various research and development projects including voice answering and video on demand systems.
