RCN Business is broadening its reach into more enterprise and small and medium businesses (SMBs) by establishing a new agent program that it says will provide "select" national and regional telecom agents and systems integrators with resources and support to sell the service provider's IP-based data and voice services.
Agents in all of RCN Business' markets, including Boston, Chicago, Lehigh Valley (Pa.), New York City, Philadelphia and Washington, D.C., can participate in this new program.
The service provider will offer any channel partner various benefits, including competitive compensation, flexible business solutions and sales enablement tools, to help agents qualify and close new business services deals. In addition, the program will provide 24/7 U.S.-based customer support with trained staff ready to assist agents with questions, training and support.
Already, RCN Business has established master agent agreements with BCM One, Glacier Communications, NEF and TeleDomani.
RCN Business' move to create a channel program comes at a time when the service provider continues to expand its fiber network in key markets like New York City. It also recently introduced its Managed LAN service.
Having established a presence in New York City landmarks like the Empire State Building, potential RCN Business agents will have the immediate opportunity to target business customers with a mix of all-fiber that have unique route diversity from other providers in that building and HFC-based data products.
On the fiber side, agents would be able to immediately address the need for Metro Ethernet with connections up to 10 Gbps, including DIA, E-Line and E-LAN connections. Meanwhile, the HFC-based network can offer broadband Internet access with speeds up to 110 in most areas RCN Business serves today. Participating agents will also be able to offer a host voice services such as Business Phone with Call Manager and Hosted Voice.
