RCN Business extends fiber services to Telehouse's NYC data center

RCN Business has brought its suite of fiber and IP-based services to Telehouse's data center in New York City, signaling another move to bring its fiber facilities into more locations.

Located at 85 10th Avenue in New York City, this expansion enables RCN Business to offer its full suite of communications services, including dedicated Internet access (DIA), hosted voice, PRI/SIP trunks, video (HDTV), Ethernet E-Line, E-LAN and dark fiber services to small, medium, and enterprise businesses colocated in the facility.

The new agreement is clearly about scale. It will offer Telehouse and RCN Business customers direct, private connectivity to hundreds of on-net fiber buildings in New York City, Chicago, Boston, Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., and Eastern Pennsylvania via the RCN network. As it does in all of its new fiber builds, RCN Business will establish dual entrances into the data center for added reliability and redundancy.

Partnering with Telehouse makes sense for RCN Business. The 10th Avenue facility is a strategic location for many metropolitan enterprise businesses, with a focus on industries including digital media, technology, healthcare, and finance.

Extending fiber into data centers and buildings is nothing new for RCN Business. In addition to Telehouse, the service provider has been extending its fiber into key New York City premises like the Empire State Building, 450-460 Park Avenue, and the 325 Hudson meet me room. More recently, it established an agreement with dark fiber provider Cross River Fiber to jointly expand its fiber footprints throughout New York and Jersey.
