The municipal Wi-Fi market has suffered from irrational exuberance and just plain lousy business models, but municipalities will see a resurgence in Wi-Fi coverage over the next several years, from about 520 square miles to about 30,000 square miles, according to ABI Research. ABI notes in a story from Telecommunications that models focused on public safety and similar applications will re-vitalize the market. Will telcos get involved this time around?
