Sizing up the top trends for the upcoming iOS 9, Android M and Windows 10 smartphone OS rollouts

The major smartphone industry leaders, including Google (NASDAQ: GOOG), Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL) and Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT), are gearing up to debut a number of new enhancements to their smartphone operating systems over the next few months.

Since each of these companies holds a unique place in the mobile market, each company has set specific goals with their new OS enhancements. Microsoft is looking to unify its Windows platforms into one seamless operating system for a wide range of devices, including phones, PCs and tablets, while Google is hoping to make Android a platform that works on more devices and in more settings. Finally, Apple, according to industry reports, is focusing on adding stability to the next version of its iOS operating system.

Phil Goldstein, editor of FierceWireless, examines the impacts these releases could have on the wireless device market in this new report.
