SPOTLIGHT: NEC to support IPTV over IMS


Japanese vendor NEC announced at the IPTV World Forum in London that it is rolling out an end-to-end IPTV platform that puts IPTV service over an IP Multimedia Subsystem core. Thus far, most vendors have viewed IPTV applications as separate from IMS, presumably because many carriers were only in the early phases of introducing IPTV and had too much on their plates to think about how it might fit over IMS. NEC is targeting NXTcomm in Las Vegas this June as the venue for discussing further details of its system, according to Telephony.
