Syniverse signs on to Oppenheimer technology conference; UTStarcom net sales down in 2Q 2010

> Add one more to the presenter's list at the Oppenheimer Annual Technology, Media & Telecommunications Conference. Syniverse (NYSE: SVR) CEO David Hitchcock will speak at the annual, invitation-only investors' gathering on Aug. 11 in an address that will be webcast live as well. News release.

> UTStarcom's (Nasdaq: UTSI) second quarter results are in, with the end-to-end IP networking provider reporting net sales of $73.2 million, down from $80.2 million in the same period last year. However, UTStarcom raised some key numbers this year, including a gross margin of 31 percent in Q2 10 vs. last year's 20 percent gross loss, and an operating loss of just $5.1 million compared to $85.4 million last year. > Vonage (NYSE: VG) marked its 11th consecutive quarter of record adjusted EBITDA, coming in at $41 million for the quarter--up $10 million from its $31 million earned in Q2 2009. The company also reported a net loss of less than $1 million. Direct cost of telephony services (COTS) went up in Q2 due to an increase in international calling customers, something the VoIP provider expects to continue through the rest of the year as they sign on more Vonage World customers. > And more decent results in IP networking as Sonus Networks (Nasdaq: SONS) held the earnings line with $61.2 million for Q2 2010, just a few thousand off of Q2 2009's $61.6 million. News release.

> Transbeam is looking to grow its Metro Ethernet business and has created an operational connection with CENX, reports Connected Planet, at CENX's New York Carrier Ethernet Exchange. Story.
