TeliaSonera creates wholesale unit

Following the expectation that European telcos will be forced toward structural separation, Sweden's TeliaSonera is voluntarily making the move by setting up a new operational unit that will sell its network capacity wholesale to other carriers.

Sweden's regulators proposed earlier this year that TeliaSonera be forced to separate into retail and wholesale units, and there's also reportedly a move afoot at the European Union to create a regional telecom regulator that would force structural separation on a pan-continental basis.
