Verizon Business President named

Lost in the landslide of announcements out of Mobile World Congress last week, Verizon named Fran Shammo president of Verizon Business, effective March 1. Shammo, 48, succeeds John Killian, who moved up the food chain two weeks ago to take over as executive vice president and CFO at Verizon Communications.

Shammo has serviced as senior vice president and CFO of Verizon Business since its formation in Jan. 2006 and has 24 years of combined financial and operational experience. Interestingly, he previously served as the president of the West for Verizon Wireless, and he was responsible for the company's operations in the 13 states west of Colorado; he also served as VP and controller for Verizon Wireless.
