Verizon Communications is leveraging its growing FiOS footprint in more than just the residential broadband market. The carrier is offering 20 Mbps symmetrical bandwidth plans to small and medium-sized businesses in some of its FiOS markets. The new network project still only reaches a small part of the carrier's potential SMB customer base, but the effort is an example of how new network infrastructure can be parlayed across market segments and leveraged throughout a telco organization's various units.
