Windstream Enterprise announced Tuesday that it has integrated office communications platform Slack into its unified communications portfolio.
Windstream's business customers are now able to tap into Slack via its Office Suite UC and HD Meeting applications. Slack has become a popular office work platform because it cuts down on the number of inter-office emails while also providing specific channels for office teams to communicate and collaborate with each other.
Another benefit for using Windstream's deployment of Slack includes the ability to launch an OfficeSuite UC call or virtual meeting within a Slack channel.
“The benefits of collaboration within an organization are many, and that’s why one of Windstream Enterprise’s top priorities is to meet the needs of our customers by aligning ourselves with best-in-class collaboration tools,” said Windstream Enterprise's Austin Herrington, vice president of product management, in a prepared statement. “With this integration, customers will be able to extend OfficeSuite UC’s already-robust capabilities to Slack using the app’s native slash commands, thus enabling them to maximize their return on investments in both services.”
Windstream is serving up Slack for free for new and existing customers of Office Suite UC and HD Meeting.
On the business services front, Windstream, which filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in February, primarily competes with Comcast Business, CenturyLink, Verizon and AT&T in the 18 states it serves.
Windstream has made a concerted effort over the past year or so to provide more business applications and services to its enterprise customers, including a re-designed Web portal, a security information and event management (SIEM) service and a recent re-launch of its Virtual PBX for Hospitality solution.
After first launching SD-WAN two years ago, Windstream announced an additional SD-WAN solution backed by Fortinet in June.
