Zayo bolsters its wireless backhaul capabilities in Phoenix

Zayo is capitalizing on the growth of wireless backhaul services by adding 123 new towers and 165 route miles to its network in Phoenix.

The build out, which is a 60 percent increase over its existing network, will establish network service presence in four key suburbs: Peoria, El Mirage, Fountain Hills and Sun City.

In addition to completing its network expansion in Phoenix, Zayo is simultaneously building out fiber to 900 towers in the other markets it serves. To date, it is delivering fiber to the tower (FTTT) backhaul service to 2,427 towers on its fiber network to various Tier 1 wireless operators.

While this network expansion effort was related to a specific wireless customer, the build out will have implications for other wireline wholesale customers and business customers that are looking for an alternative source for fiber-based Ethernet services.
