Zayo Group adds two independent directors to board

Zayo Group is beefing up its board of directors with the appointment of its first two independent directors Rick Connor and Don Detampel. Joining co-founder and CEO Dan Caruso, Gillis Cashman of M/C Ventures, Michael Choe of Charlesbank Capital Partners, Tony Downer of Oak Investment Partners, and John Siegel of Columbia Capital, the appointment of Connor and Detampel fill out Zayo's board to seven members.

Both Connor and Detampel come to Zayo with a Connor, who comes to Zayo with 40 years of experience as an audit partner with KPMG LLP advising media, telecom and energy clients, have been appointed Chairman of the Audit Committee and will serve on the Compensation Committee. Detampel, who has over two decades of senior executive experience within Internet infrastructure, telecommunications and web technology companies, has been appointed Chairman of the Compensation Committee and will serve on the Audit Committee.

The appointment of Connor and Detampel with their respective financial and telecom experience will come in hand as Zayo continues to grow organically and through snapping up the assets of other service providers. Zayo Group. has been on a roll M&A lately with the completion of its acquisition of AGL Networks and recently announced deal to buy American Fiber Systems.
