Zayo taps Verizon veteran as SVP of Enterprise Sales

Zayo brought in even more fresh blood as it works to revamp its business, tapping former Verizon Public Sector Director Jason Taylor as its new SVP of Enterprise Sales.

In his new role, Taylor has oversight of sales operations for Zayo’s Public Sector, Healthcare, Transportation and Utilities businesses in the U.S. and Canada. He replaces Brad Kilbey, who left Zayo in December to take the reins as CEO of Kentucky-based wholesale and business fiber provider Accelecom. Taylor's LinkedIn profile indicates he started the new role in January.

Before joining Zayo, Taylor was with Verizon for 14 years, with his LinkedIn showing he joined the company in 2008 as a District Manager. He eventually worked his way up the ranks through various roles – including Director of Consumer Sales for Verizon Wireless’ Northern California region and Director of Partner Channel and Distribution Operations – before being named Verizon’s Director of Public Sector in early 2019.

Taylor is the latest new addition to Zayo’s executive team. Last year, the company tapped former Cisco and Brightcove executive Lynn Tinney as its SVP of Global Partners and brought in former Equinix executive Bill Long as its new Chief Product Officer. As noted in its 2022 recap blog, the company also recently appointed Jim Campbell as SVP of Solutions Architecture; DJ Leckwold as SVP of Global Customer Success; Troy Lupe as SVP of Field Operations; and David Vanhoose as VP of IT Infrastrucuture and Service Management.

The influx of new executives comes as Zayo looks to capitalize in newly acquired assets from QOS Networks and investments in its dark fiber and long-haul infrastructure. The company launched a new edge portfolio in October, which includes SD-WAN and secure access service edge (SASE) offerings targeted at mid-market enterprises. It has also been upgrading its long-haul network with 400G technology and new routes in the Midwest.

Last year, Zayo also acquired Education Networks of America (ENA), teeing it up to serve more customers across the education, library, community healthcare and public sector arenas.
