The Five Nine Podcast: Peter Cunningham, VP of Product Management, Bullitt Group

Bullitt Group is a relatively young company in telco terms, having been founded in 2009 with the mission to deliver robust devices for the more adventurous of clients. Fueled by satellite connectivity, they have established strong brand partnerships with the likes of CAT and Motorola to develop and deliver handsets and dongles to enable full connectivity across the globe.

To say they’ve had a busy 2022 and 2023 would be an understatement. At CES in Las Vegas, they announced a partnership with Motorola to deliver two-way satellite messaging, and at MWC Barcelona they released their new flagship phone, the CAT S75. These efforts have not gone unnoticed, with the company being named a CES 2023 Innovation Awards Honoree, and racking up the prestigious MWC23 Best In Show Award in Barcelona.

Peter Cunningham heads up Bullitt’s product management team and caught up with Five Nine to describe some keys to their success, from building satellite-connected devices using 3GPP NTN specifications to the wider role of satellite connectivity in connecting everyone. Whilst rugged devices might be seen as a niche market, the applicability of its technology is wide-ranging, and by developing additional products such as dongles, and enabling two-way satellite messaging, the move into mainstream use seems inevitable.

Finally, we discuss the future of Bullitt with Peter, who remains understandably tight-lipped about specific plans, but shares his vision for how devices, together with affordable and reliable satellite connectivity, will lead to a new era of connectivity for all.
